Outdoor Grilling Safety Tips
Be aware of your surroundings
You must always be aware of your surroundings. Please don’t place your grill near anything flammable. Such things consist of dead trees, bushes or shrubs. A stray spark from your grill can turn these thing into a blazing inferno.
Don’t burn the house down.
Never place the grill on a covered patio or anywhere close to your house or apartment balcony. Always keep grill at least 10 feet away from your house.
Most of us like to show off for our neighbors by opening the garage door and firing up the grill right in the garage doorway. Don’t do this. I drive through my neighborhood and constantly see neighbors trying to collect on their fire/life insurance. Flames can easily catch and spread inside of a garage where most of us store highly flammable substances. Paint thinners, gas cans, solvents etc.
Never Grill Indoors.
Grilling indoors can cause Carbon Monoxide Poisoning.
Carbon monoxide is a colorless, odorless gas that is released by grills. Never grill indoors this gas is deadly. Only grill outdoors in a well, ventilated area.
Never Leave the Grill Unattended.
Anything can happen and you should be close by to act in case of an emergency. Fires spread and grow very quickly so be sure to complete all you food prep beforehand so you don’t have to leave the grill unattended.
